Operation principle of driver drowsiness detection
The driver drowsiness detection is based on an algorithm, which begins recording the driver’s steering behavior the moment the trip begins. It then recognizes changes over the course of long trips, and thus also the driver’s level of fatigue.
How do I make a drowsy driver detection?
Step 1 – Take image as input from a camera.
Step 2 – Detect the face in the image and create a Region of Interest (ROI).
Step 3 – Detect the eyes from ROI and feed it to the classifier.
Step 4 – Classifier will categorize whether eyes are open or closed.
How do you measure drowsiness?
The most commonly used drowsiness scale is the Karolinska Sleepiness Scale (KSS), a nine-point scale that has verbal anchors for each step, as shown in Table 1[32]. Hu et al. measured the KSS ratings of drivers every 5 min and used it as a reference to the EoG signal collected
