IOT BASED – STREET LIGHT CONTROLLING SYSTEM

The world today is facing an energy crisis of a different kind. We havelarge reservoirs of fossil fuels lying unused in the earth’s crust. These can beeconomically extracted and used to power the needs of moderncivilization. However, depending on fossil fuels is no longer a good option as theirindiscriminate use has already disturbed the delicate balance of the earth’snatural process, leading to global warming & climate change.
The aim and our project of StreetLight Controlling System using IoT is the conservation of energy byreducing electricity wastage as well as to reduce the manpowerIndeed, our Street light system comes with Salient features of (a)Completely automated, (b) Dismissing Electric grid & using Power, (c)Automatic ON/OFF; This function would be based dusk to dawn i.e. sunriseand sunset. (d) Controlling of light intensity and leading system to powersaving mode; This controls the light supply i.e. from evening 6 pm to 11 pmintensity of light to 100% and from 11 pm to 6 am in the 50% of fullillumination can save power Using LDR and Voltage sensors. (e) Vehicle /Human detection; During the night when lights are dimmed, if there is anyvehicle or human movement within the radius away from the light the PIRsensor detects, and light intensity is increased. (f) Remotely ON/OFFfacilitate the user to remotely on / off from anywhere through app. (g)Notification of Mal-function; sending intimation to the concerned authority incase any malfunctioning, like system error or non-functioning lights, etc.through Wi-Fi module. (h) Monitoring Battery charge level. The key components used in our Project arepanel, MPPT ChargeController Battery Li-Poly Battery, LDR Light Sensitive Device, Voltagesensor, PIR & IR Sensor, Arduino Uno, Led Lights.
This work is implementedusing a programmed Arduino board for providing the required intensity of lightat various times. The proposed work has achieved better performancecompared to the existing system.

Electricity plays a vital role in our lives. Life is just unimaginable without electric energy and Street Lights. It becomes even more important to find different ways in which we can protect and prevent electric power from getting exhausted and conserving for future generations.
Energy is a driving force not just for the economy but also for all our daily activities. With the existing energy resources no longer being a viable option, it is time we shift to God’s most unique gift to mankind – Energy! We now need to harness the potential of direct sunlight to meet our energy demand in a clean and sustainable manner.
With the increased use of power, the LED (Light Emitting Diode) street lighting system plays a major role. Monitoring and controlling of street lights are utmost importance in order reduce power consumption and to increase the life of the battery. This paper presents a remote streetlight monitoring and controlling system based on LED and wireless sensor networks. The present system is like, the street lights will be switched on in the evening after the sun sets and they are switched off the next day morning after there is sufficient light on the roads.
Electricity plays an important role in our lives. It becomes even more important to find differentways in which we can protect and prevent electric power from getting exhausted and conserving for future generations. The aim of the Street Light Controlling system using IOT is mainly for the conservation of energy by reducing electricity wastage and making our planet greener.
We can confidently say that Powered Street Light will inevitably be the Street Lights of the Future. Therefore, we have chosen the Project of Street light controlling system using IoT.
